Brian wins Big Brother

The results are in: Brian Belo has won Big Brother series 8. The final three of Liam, Sam and Amanda, and Brian was fairly predictable, but it was anyone's guess who would win.

Liam took third spot, but still came away with £100,000. The twins were delighted to take second.

It was one of the most dull Big Brother series, but the final night proved surprisingly entertaining and justice was done with all the first three (counting the twins as one) being bonny lads and lasses as Liam would say.

David and Victoria in the news

There's disappointing news for David Beckham as doctors have confirmed that his knee injury will keep him out of England's vital Euro qualifiers.

Beckham will not play before mid-October.

It has been a tough start in L.A. for Beckham, but as biogs.com has often written before, there's nobody quite like David Beckham for bouncing back from the lows that he finds himself in.

Meanwhile it's been revealed that Victoria Beckham will have a guest role in Ugly Betty.

Keira Knightley on fame

The Biennale Cinema 64th Venice Film Festival kicks off tonight and the opening ceremony is followed by the screening of Atonement, directed by Joe Wright and starring Keira Knightley, James McAvoy, Vanessa Redgrave, Tomola Garai and Brenda Blethyn.

The BBC had an interesting report on Knightley's view on the impact of fame, quoting her:

"Once you become famous you get completely dehumanised. I think people forget there is a person in there trying to deal with it "

Other notable films being screened at Venice are Sleuth with Michael Caine and Jude Law and Woody Allen's Cassandra, which stars Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor.

Gordon Ramsay on top, but you would not know it

The results of Harden's London Restaurants guide's survey have just come out and Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, his Chelsea restaurant, was voted 'Top Gastronomic Experience', however it was still portrayed as a disappointing result for Gordon Ramsay by The Times article, Rivals turn up heat on Ramsay and The Guardian piece, Guidebook diners lose their appetite for Gordon Ramsay

Curiously they seemed to think that part of the bad news for Gordon Ramsay was Pétrus winning top spot for the coveted Overall Best Restaurant.

Pétrus, of course, is part of the Gordon Ramsay group, and it seems a little blinkered to see this as bad news for Ramsay himself, whilst simply crediting chef Marcus Wareing.

Chanelle returns to Big Brother briefly

Chanelle Hayes briefly re-entered the Big Brother house as a 'mystery guest' in the Big Brother Quiz. It was a shock to Ziggy, who also watched a recording of Richard Madeley criticising him.

It's the last week of a relatively dull Big Brother series. Recently, Channel Four announced that they were temporarily dropping Celebrity Big Brother. When you factor in that the return of Castaway on the BBC was a complete ratings flop, it is obvious that the reality TV landscape is changing radically.

Don't be surprised if we soon see the next 'big idea' to fill the vacuum.

In the News

We've decided to use the blog to highlight the celebrity or celebrities and others on Biogs that are in the news. Our first 'In the News' ...

Tim Henman announced that he will retire from professional tennis in September after Great Britain's Davis Cup tie against Croatia at Wimbledon.

Bill Murray was tested for drink-driving after he was stopped in a golf buggy in Stockholm's city centre.

On August 23, AP reported
Lindsay Lohan was charged with seven misdemeanors arising from two drunken-driving arrests, avoiding more serious felony drug charges because tests showed there wasn't enough cocaine on her to warrant them.

Fox reported: "A judge is allowing a lawsuit against Naomi Campbell to proceed, and ruled the supermodel's stormy past can potentially be used against her."
