Chris Pine's life
Chris Pine was born on 26 August 1980 in Los Angeles.
Chris Pine's parents were actors. His father, Robert Pine played Sgt Joseph Getraer in the popular TV series CHiPs, in which Chris's mother, Gwynne Gilford, also had a role.
Startrek.com, reflecting on the probable appointment of Chris Pine to play Captain Kirk also pointed out about Chris's father:
"Robert Pine played a Delta Quadrant politico named Liria in Voyager's The Chute, and the emotional Vulcan leader Tavin in Enterprise's Fusion."
Chris Pine went to the University of California and started acting at the Williamstown Theater Festival.
Pine went on to gain TV and film credits. Amongst his TV credits were roles in ER, The Guardian, CSI: Miami, America Dreams and Six Feet Under.
Chris Pine's significant film roles include playing Nicholas Deveraux opposite Anne Hathaway in The Princess Diaries 2 and playing a blind man opposite Lindsay Lohan in Just My Luck.
Chris Pine had a role in Joe Carnahan's crime film Smokin' Aces, which also featured Ben Affleck, and he was possibly going to star in another Carnahan film, White Jazz, when the offer to play Captain Kirk came through.
In October 2007, it was confirmed that Chris Pine would play Captain Kirk in JJ Abrams's reprise of Star Trek.
In January 2010, there were mixed reports as to whether Chris Pine and girlfriend Olivia Munn were still together.
