Some notes on the British Comedy Awards: Jonathan Ross presented well with a risque script. Ant & Dec narrowly edged out Catherine Tate in the People's Choice award, after the director had selected a reaction shot of her looking delighted that Robbie Williams was presenting the award.
It is questionable whether there should be open updates on how the vote is going as it may raise the hopes of those shortlisted. Maybe Ant & Dec fans just stay up later and therefore account for their late swing in the vote!
Sacha Baron-Cohen gave a tribute to Harry Thompson, who had died in 2005, crediting Thompson with kickstarting his career just when Dacha (aka Ali G) was thinking of giving up hope and continuing to sweep restaurant floors.
Simon Cowell upon the X Factor winning Best Comedy Entertainment programme 2005, said: "We're not a comedy programme, we're a serious factual drama."
