The BBC Sports Personality of the Year was won by Freddie Flintoff as predicted. But before England's Ashes victory, Ellen MacArthur had been clear favourite to win.
As well as Flintoff and MacArthur, the last six included Steven Gerrard, Andy Murray, Ricky Hatton and Michael Vaughan.
It was a good set of awards for cricket with the English team winning the team of the year and Shane Warne triumphing as overseas personality of the year.
