David Beckham is believed to have ruptured his Achilles tendon in AC Milan's 1-0 win over Chievo, thereby almost certainly ending his dream of playing in a fourth World Cup.

The Los Angeles Galaxy with a prominent David Beckham beat the San Jose Earthquakes 2-0 to ensure that they claimed their first Western Conference regular season title since 2002.
28 March 2009: Beckham overtakes Bobby Moore
David Beckham overtook Bobby Moore's record number of caps for an England outfield player, when he came on at half-time as a substitute in a friendly against Slovakia.
It was David Beckham's 109th cap.
6 March 2009: Beckham continues his stay at AC Milan
David Beckham will remain with AC Milan until the end of the Italian season, and will then re-join LA Galaxy, before returning to Milan at the end of the year.
It is understood that David Beckham took a pay cut to ensure the deal went through.
11 February 2009: Beckham reaches Bobby Moore's landmark
David Beckham equalled Bobby Moore's record of 108 England caps for an outfield player when he came on as a substitute in England's 2-0 defeat by Spain. Peter Shilton with 125 caps is England's most capped player.
11 January 2009: Beckham plays 89 minutes for AC Milan
David Beckham played 89 minutes in his debut for AC Milan in their 2-2 draw with Roma.
Beckham was granted his place in the starting line-up because AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti explained: "I decided to start with Beckham because he had demonstrated over the last few days that he was intelligent, serious and committed."

BBC Sport has reported that David Beckham will join AC Milan for a few months on loan in January 2009.

Fabio Capello has confirmed that David Beckham will win his 100th England cap in the friendly against France tomorrow.

Beckham finds himnself in a provisional 30-man squad named by Fabio Capello.

4 January 2008: Beckham joins Arsenal (in a manner of speaking)
David Beckham has begun training with Arsenal as part of his determined attempt to be selected by Fabio Capello for his 100th cap for England.
David Beckham is aiming to keep fit during the American close season and will mainly train with Arsenal's reserves.
Beckham is set to return to LA Galaxy in the middle of February.
16 November 2007: Beckham gets 98th England cap
Steve McClaren has named David Beckham in England's starting line-up in the friendly against Austria.
England's European fate will depend largely however on Saturday's game between Russia and Israel. If Russia lose against Israel, England need a draw against Croatia next week, whilst if Russia draw England will need to beat Croatia. It remains to be seen whether McClaren will give Beckham his 99th cap against Croatia!
31 August 2007: Beckham out of England's qualifiers
David Beckham's worst fears were confirmed when it was revealed today that his knee ligament injury would keep him out of England's Euro 2008 qualifiers against Israel and Russia.
He is expected to be fit again in mid-October.
August 2007: David Beckham starts and scores for Los Angeles Galaxy
David Beckham scored his first goal for Los Angeles Galaxy. It was Beckham's first start for the Galaxy and he was named captain.
In typical Beckham fashion the goal came from a free-kick and Los Angeles Galaxy went on to beat DC United 2-0. Beckham set up the second goal for Landon Donovan.

David Beckham, struggling with an ankle injury, came on as a sub for the last 12 minutes in his debut for Los Angeles Galaxy in a friendly against Chelsea.
May 2007: David Beckham is back for England
England manager Steve McClaren put his hands up today in a dramatic U-turn that has seen the recall of David Beckham to the England squad.
Beckham looks set to start in Friday's friendly against Brazil and then play in the important Euro 2008 qualifier in Estonia. It will be the first time he has put on the England shirt since the 2006 World Cup.

David Beckham announced that he will leave Real Madrid at the end of the 2007 season and join Major League Soccer side LA Galaxy on a five-year deal - reportedly worth £128m.
Beckham already had connections with LA Galaxy. Their owners, AEG, are partners in Beckham's soccer academy in Los Angeles.

New England coach Steve McClaren announced his squad for the friendly against Greece and omitted David Beckham. McClaren said that he had not shut the door on Beckham but that he wanted to move in a new direction.
2 July 2006: David Beckham stands down as England captain
David Beckham announced that he was standing down as England captain, however he made clear that he was still available for selection as an England player.
Beckham is England's fifth most capped player, but he is still just short of his 100 caps. Time will tell whether he will feature in new coach, Steve McClaren's plans.
1 July 2006: David Beckham injured and England out
England were beaten by Portugal in a penalty shoot-out in the quarter-finals of the 2006 World Cup. Beckham himself was forced to leave the pitch early in the second half because of injury.
The England captain said: "I twisted my knee in the first half and then I went up for a header in the first five minutes of the second half and the player landed on my Achilles. I will have a scan on Sunday and see what it is."

David Beckham is a winner. The pundits were busy criticising his free-kicks and corners and yet in the 60th minute of the last 16 game against Ecuador, the England captain had a glint in his eye, as he shook his head to his teammate who was considering a pass, and instead he launched a cracker which curled in from 30 yards.
