Basshunter was born Jonas Altberg on 22 December 1984, in Halmstad, Sweden.

In 2006 Basshunter released his debut single, Boten Anna. It was the first ever Swedish language song to reach number one in various countries.

A year later, Basshunter released a re-recording of Boten Anna, entitled Now You're Gone, which ended up being the most played song online in the UK and the biggest selling dance single of 2008.

Like his track All I Ever Wanted it reached number one.

In 2010 Basshunter came fourth on Celebrity Big Brother.

Basshunter entered the Celebrity Big brother house in a dinner jacket having only just arrived from DJ-ing at a New Years Eve party for the President of Kazakhstan.

In the launch programme of Celebrity Big Brother, Davina McCall mentioned that Basshunter had Tourette's as a child and was bullied, but he managed to control the syndrome.

In December 2010, Basshunter was charged by Fife police over an alleged sex assault on two female fans at Kitty's nightclub in Kirkcaldy.

Basshunter was cleared of the charges.
