"Typecasting is a good thing. It's good to be known for what you do. It's good Xerox is known for its copying machines and it's good Jim Carrey is known for comedy. That's the sign in front of the store. Unless you're lucky enough to be Jack Lemmon or Cary Grant, there are few guys who can do comedy and drama."

Regarding Steve Guttenberg's work with homeless youngsters, he told the Hallmark Channel:

"I've always wanted to help people who were homeless and I found that there were a lot of children who, after they were emancipated from foster care, have nowhere to go, so I built Guttenhouse, which is a two-story co-op with two apartments, four bedrooms, and four girls live there. It's been open since June 13, 2000. It's had about 15 girls go through there already. They go in and learn all kinds of life skills. They come out about a year or two later and they jump into the world."
