On a personal note: I sorely miss Tommy Boyd's brilliant radio shows on Talksport. Unlike many Boyd fans I didn't really take to the Human Zoo, which he hosted, or for that matter the wrestling show he presented. But his call-in show was second to none.
Rather like Tommy Boyd, sites about him seem to come and go, but this excellent one remains. The Tommy Boyd Shrine has, as well as a mass of information, some downloadable audio of Boyd.
Lisa Francesca Nand (Chessy to Talksport listeners) wrote an article for Radiojam, which quoted Tommy Boyd on the future of the talk radio format: "I wonder if we're going to let the boat sail without us. US talk radio is knocking music off FM stations now, and we are still inviting any guy who's written a book to wander on air and drone about it for half an hour."
