In 2001 Emre Belozoglu signed for Inter Milan, meanwhile helping his national side, Turkey, to third place in the 2002 World Cup, having won his first cap in February 2000.
In 2005 he moved to Newcastle for around £4 million.
Emre Belozoglu's Premiership debut came in Newcastle's first game of the season against Arsenal. The Gunners won, but Emre impressed the Magpies fans.
In March 2007 Emre was cleared by an F.A. diciplinary committee of a charge of using racially aggravated, abusive and / or insulting words against Everton earlier in the season. Emre was still facing similar charges relating to alleged comments against Watford's Al Bangura.
Emre's early years at Newcastle were dogged by injury and a loss of form, however he expressed hope that things would be better under Kevin Keegan.
