10 January 2005 - Gervais prioritises Extras, his new sitcom
Extras is the new sitcom by Gervais and Stephen Merchant, in which Ricky will play a struggling film and TV comedy actor.
As well as writing for The Simpsons (see news item below) Ricky Gervais will be appearing on Arrested Development and making appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman.
The BBC report on Gervais today revealed that he wants to take up an offer to appear in Mission: Impossible 3. He explained: "because I admire director JJ Abrams and Tom Cruise is the greatest film star of our generation".
However, in spite of the above list of commitments, Ricky Gervais added: "I still turn down about 95% of things I am offered because I am busy working on Extras."
December 23, 2004 - Gervais to Write for the Simpsons
Following on from his special achievement award for writing presented yesterday at the British Comedy Awards, it has now been revealed that Matt Groening has asked Ricky Gervais to script an episode of The Simpsons.
Gervais has begun the script which includes a part for himself.
"I've got the rough idea," he said. "But this is the most intimidating project of my career. The Simpsons is the greatest TV show of all time."
