Coleen McLoughlin

Coleen McLoughlin was born in 1986 in Liverpool. Her father was a bricklayer who ran a boxing club, and her mother was a nursery nurse.

5'3", Coleen first met Wayne Rooney when she was 12 years of age.

Wayne and Coleeen were known in the papers as the King and Queen of Chavs, and many of the tabloids focussed on Coleen's enthusiasm for shopping.

Coleen McLoughlin was deputy head girl of her Catholic girls' school, St John Bosco, where Wayne Rooney's mother was a part-time cleaner. Coleen McLoughlin gained 10 GCSEs.

After leaving school, Coleen McLoughlin acted in Hollyoaks, but has not established herself as an actress.

There have been some difficult times magnified by being in the public eye. At Coleen McLoughlin's 18th birthday party a series of fights reportedly erupted between members of the Rooney and the McLoughlin families; and in 2004 Coleen was also exposed to the press after it was revealed that Wayne Rooney had visited a Liverpool brothel.

In June 2005 Coleen McLoughlin told Vogue: "Sometimes I wonder if I'm being punished for something that Wayne's done. In the end what matters to Wayne is what appears on the sports pages - he can go out and be a hero again on the football pitch. I can't ..."

Coleen McLoughlin was named the British Retail Consortium's Celebrity Shopper of 2005 with 38% of the vote. Well ahead of her nearest rivals: Abi Titmuss and Sienna Miller.

In May 2006, Coleen McLoughlin presented a report in the Tonight with Trevor McDonald strand that highlighted the lack of government funding for children's hospices.

The Sun had extracts from the book, Coleen: the Biography, in which Coleen McLoughlin explains her desire to be an actress and says:

"My big dream is to follow Jennifer Ellison or Billie Piper — I'm big fans of them both."

In May 2007, Coleen McLoughlin signed an exclusive two-year deal to host several programmes for ITV1 and ITV2. Her projects at ITV include Coleen's Real Women, in which see searches for amateur models to take part in photo shoots and fashion shows.

Coleen McLoughlin writes a weekly column in Closer called Welcome to My World, which is also the name of one of her books.
