July 21 2007: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is published

The long awaited last book in the Harry Potter series has been published.

The BBC reported that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows "was released in 93 countries, with a print run of 12 million in the US alone."


July 6 2007: JK Rowling sobs her heart out

The BBC reported that speaking on Jonathan Ross's chat show, JK Rowling, who was in a hotel room alone as she finished writing the book, said:

"I was sobbing my heart out, I downed half a bottle of champagne from the mini bar in one and went home with mascara all over my face, that was really tough."


February 1 2007: JK Rowling reveals date of final Harry Potter

JK Rowling has revealed that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the last Harry Potter book, will be published on 21 July.


June 2006: JK Rowling progress report on final Harry Potter

At the Queen's 80th birthday party at Buckingham Palace, JK Rowling said that her final Harry Potter book was going well but: "I am feeling sad as it is the last one ..."


April 2006: J.K. Rowling donation

J.K. Rowling has made a sizeable donation towards a new £2.5 facility in Edinburgh to help doctors understand multiple sclerosis, which was responsible for her mother's death at 45.


22 December 2004 - New Harry Potter Book announced!

The sixth Harry Potter book will hit the shops on 16 July 2005.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be published simultaneously in the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. The book covers Harry Potter's sixth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as Lord Voldemort grows stronger.

Rowling has already revealed that the Half-Blood Prince is neither Harry nor Voldemort.

J.K. Rowling has said there will be seven novels in the series.
