Ron Zook

Ron Zook was born on April 28, 1954, in Loudonville, Ohio.

In December 2004, Zook became Illinois' 22nd head football coach after they fired Ron Turner. Zook has been given a five-year contract at Illinois, worth about $1 million a year.

Ron Zook himself was fired at Florida on October 25, 2004 two days after the Gators lost at Mississippi State. However he coached the Gators for the rest of the season and led them to a 3-1 record in their final four games and an invitation to the Peach Bowl.

In three seasons at Florida, he went 23-14.

Ron Zook has a reputation as a hard-worker and a tireless recuiter.

In his younger days Ron Zook had wanted to be a dentist.
