22 May 2005: Manchester United pay the penalty for missed chances
It's amazing the number of times the team on the back foot goes on to win the F.A. Cup final. Even the most ardent Arsenal fan would have to acknowledge that Manchester United were the better team in open play.
But if football was about fairness then you would have a panel of judges awarding points after the game, and the number of goals would be irrelevant in settling who wins.
Once again Wayne Rooney was man of the match with another sparkling performance. As Sir Alex Ferguson said:
"You could toss a coin for man of the match out of Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo because they were great, the pair of them."
In fact, Manchester United probably had the top five or six players on the pitch.
