Federer wins Wimbledon 2005
In contrast to Venus Williams' epic victory over Lindsay Davenport in the longest-ever women's final at Wimbledon, Roger Federer overcame Andy Roddick with ease.
Federer was playing the best tennis of his life to take the final 6-2 7-6 (7-2) 6-4. It was Federer's third men's singles title at Wimbledon.
It was Roddick's eighth defeat in nine matches against Federer and after the match he joked that to beat Federer in future, "maybe I'll just punch him or something."
Roger Federer dropped just one set the whole tournament.
As Boris Becker said to the BBC's Sue Barker:
"Everyone has to adapt to his [Federer's] level now - Roddick on the backhand, Lleyton Hewitt on the serve.
"Federer is the bar and the bad news for the other players is he's just going to get better."
