Al Lockwood
The announcement of Group Captain Al Lockwood's appointment as Conservative Party candidate for Sedgefield was made on 24 March 2005.
Al Lockwood is a former fighter pilot, who left the RAF earlier this year (2005).
The 53-year-old became known to the public during the Iraq conflict in his role as the official military spokesman.
In this role he got a mention in the BBC's E-cyclopedia's words of war:
"precision weapon - not just a delicate euphemism for bomb, but actually what bombs are now called, eg Group Captain Al Lockwood: "We dropped a precision weapon.""
Al Lockwood lives in Lincolnshire.
