Robert Browne claims Sedgefield families will pay less tax under LibDem's substitute for the Council Tax
Sedgefield's LibDem candidate, Robert Browne, speaking from Newton Aycliffe today, said that the Liberal Democrats would replace the Council Tax with a local income tax.
Browne claimed that as a result the average family in the Sedgefield constituency will pay £450 less, and that many pensioners would pay no local tax at all. The funds raised would be the equivalent to the old system, because wealthier households would be required to pay more.
