Shayler may pull out to increase Keys's chances
In Michael Crick's report on Newsnight last night, 7 April, he phoned David Shayler and asked him about a rumour that he would pull out of the election. There was no reply in the report but Crick went on to say that Shayler was driving up to see Reg Keys tonight (i.e. yesterday). So, it's a case of which this space.
The other thing of note to come out of the report, which is downloadable from the BBC Newsnight website (30 minutes into the whole programme) is that Tony Blair's agent, John Burton said that he expected Blair to visit Sedgefield three times during the campaign.
Also in the commentary Crick claimed "...several folk are planning to ditch Tony Blair."
