- Anjum Anand's parents emigrated from New Delhi and she was born in London.
- Anjum Anand grew up in London but studied in London, Geneva, Paris and Madrid gaining a BA in European Business Administration.
- Anand worked in New York's Caf Spice and for Tommy Tang and the Mondrian Hotel in Los Angeles.

- In 2007, Anjum Anand broke through into terrestrial TV. She was commissioned to make a 6 x 30 minutes series for BBC2 in what would be its first high-definition cookery series. The series, with the working title Spice Up Your Life not only features Anjum Anand's recipes but showcase her talents as a busy wife and mother.
