Gaby Halberstam's Life
- Gaby Halberstam was born in a small mining town in South Africa and grew up in Durban and then Port Elizabeth.
- Gaby's family left South Africa in September 1977, emigrating to England.
- Gaby Halberstam studied at Henrietta Barnett school in north west London and Oxford University, where she gained a degree in English.

She then qualified as a lawyer and became a solicitor at a London city firm, Slaughter & May, where she met her future husband, Simon Halberstam. They have three children.
- After leaving the law, Gaby Halberstam gained critical acclaim with her first novel, Blue Sky Freedom.
- In 2009 Gaby Halberstam wrote her second book, The Red Dress, which like Blue Sky Freedom was set in South Africa.
