Teri Lynn Hatcher was born on 8 December 1964 in California.

Teri Hatcher studied maths and engineering, whilst learning acting at the American Conservatory Theatre.

She was headed for a career in mathematics before being discovered by the TV show, Love Boat.

Teri Hatcher played Lois Lane in ABC's Lois & Clark in the 1990s, opposite Dean Cain's Clark Kent.

Teri Hatcher played Susan Mayer, a single mother in Desperate Housewives. She won a Golden Globe for the role.

Glamour Magazine named Hatcher US actress of the year and she also gained the editor's special award.

Teri Hatcher has been divorced twice and has a daughter Emerson Rose. Hatcher who felt isolated by her own parents, works as a volunteer for Aviva Family and Children's Services Center - a treatment centre for abused or neglected girls.

Hatcher was chosen by Barbara Walters as one of the ten most fascinating people of 2005.

Hatcher considers her first movie, The Big Picture, to be her favourite.
