Herschel Walker was born in Augusta, Georgia on March 3, 1962, and grew up in Wrightsville, Georgia.
- Before turning professional, Herschel Walker had a superb record at the University of Georgia, where he set an NCAA freshman rushing record. Walker earned consensus All-American honours three consecutive years, set 10 NCAA records, 15 SEC records, and 30 Georgia all-time records.
- In 1983, Walker turned professional. He had 15 years as a pro-footballer, in which he set the single-season rushing record of 2411 yards and gained more total yards than anyone in professional football history.
