Kirsty Balfour's Biography
Kirsty Balfour was born on 21 February 1984.
Her mother, Cathy was a Maths teacher for the Blind.
Kirsty Balfour's father Scott represented Great Britain as a triathlete and as a 10 year old Kirsty herself was Scottish Orienteering Champion for her age group.
However, as an adult, it was swimming that proved to be her forte.
Kirsty Balfour's notable swimming performances include tenth place at the 2004 Olympics in the 200m breaststroke competition, silver medal at the 2007 World Championships, silver medal in the 2006 Commonwealth Games (behind Leisel Jones) and gold in the 2005 European Championships.
