Who is Claire King?

Claire King was born Claire Seed on 10 January 1963.

Claire King told the Daily Mail that she got into acting through the music business:

"I was in bands, moved to London, started going out with a guitarist whose band was making a video and I was asked to be in it. Ade Edmondson from The Young Ones was directing and asked me to be in a video for Elvis Costello and from this I developed a taste for the acting side and enrolled in drama school having done various fringe plays ..."

Claire King has a host of TV credits but is most well-known for her roles as Kim Tate in Emmerdale, and wing governor Karen Betts in Bad Girls.

Clair King told the ITV show Loose Women that she was once hit over the head by a little old lady for being beastly to Frank Tate.

Claire King has published an autobiography entitled Confessions of a Bad Girl, which alludes to her relationships with Frankie Dettori, Vinnie Jones, Fergal Lynch, Geoff Bird, Mark Shaw from Then Jericho and Bob Geldof.

The autobiography also deals with her break up from her husband and former Emmerdale co-star, Peter Amory, who played Chris Tate and how he left her for Samantha Giles, who played barmaid Bernice in the soap.

The Daily Mail has an article by Claire King, in which she describes her break ups with Peter Amory and John Robson, the actor and model to whom she was engaged.

In 2017, she spoke to Mandy Saligari on the Channel Five programme In Therapy about how she struggled in the aftermath of her divorce from Peter Amory.

Claire's hobbies include horse-riding, walking her black labradors, and going horse-racing. Claire King lives in Harrogate and has numerous horses and dogs, including five racehorses in training.

Claire King partnered Brendan Cole on Strictly Come Dancing in series 4, but they were voted off in the eighth show.

Along with Jan Leeming, Brooke Kinsella and others, Claire King took part in the BBC's reality show Safari School.

From 2014 to 2017 she played Erica Holroyd in Coronation Street.
