James Martin
According to James Martin's official biography, as well as an extensive number of appearances cooking on television, James Martin has authored works such as 'Great British Dinners' and 'Easy British Dinners'; he has his own brand of electrical equipment made by Whal; and he has his own restaurant aboard the cruise liner Ocean Village Cruise Ship.
James Martin also manages his own deli and bakery, Cadogan & James.
In Strictly Come Dancing series 3, James Martin partnered Camilla Dallerup. James and Camilla struck up such a rapport that immediately speculation started that linked them romantically. In an interview with The Mirror, the couple seemed to confirm that they were an item.
At 6'4" James Martin was one of the tallest contestants in the TV dancing series. Under the influence of Camilla, James underwent a diet and by the first Strictly Come Dancing transmission, he had already lost a stone!
James Martin and Camilla Dallerup did well in Strictly Come Dancing with James constantly improving but they ended up just missing out on the final, being the fourth last couple to be voted off.
He had an early start when it comes to his food career. As BBC Food's chef biogs puts it:
"James Martin was born into the chef's life: his father ran the catering side of Castle Howard stately home in Yorkshire and, when he was only 12, James could boast that he'd cooked for the Queen Mother on her visit there."
James Martin was Student of the Year for three years running at Scarborough Technical College.
He was spotted by Antony Worrall Thompson and worked at 190 Queensgate, followed by dell'Ugo. After further work in the UK and France, at just 21 James Martin opened the Hotel du Vin and Bistro in Winchester as Head Chef.
James Martin enjoys swing and jazz and he loves Frank Sinatra.
In July 2007, The Mail on Sunday announced that James Martin, who owns a Formula 1 car, an Aston Martin DB5, a 1959 Chevy Corvette and an Audi RS4 was to be the new motoring columnist on their Live magazine.
