Tunisia

Tunisia have qualified for the World Cup finals three times before - in 1978, 1998, and 2002.

They are yet to win again in the finals since beating Mexico 3-1 in their very first match in 1978.

The Tunisians, under former French coach Roger Lemerre, were defeated in the qualifiers 2-1 by Guinea, but their six wins and three draws, including a 2-2 in the final qualifying game against rivals Morocco, proved enough.

In the 2-2 draw against Morocco, Tunisia came from behind twice to level with their north African rivals. It was vital because they ended up only a point ahead of Morocco in the final standings.

Tunisia started the tournament with a 2-2 draw against Saudi Arabia thanks to a late equaliser from Bolton's Radhi Jaidi. In their second game they were leading against Spain right up to the 71st minute when Spain equalised and the Spaniards eventually won 3-1. Tunisia lost their third game, 1-0 to the Ukraine and so failed to qualify for the last 16.
