Kerry McGregor
Kerry McGregor was 31 when she reached the final of The X Factor in 2006.
Kerry broke her back falling from a tree when she was 13 and she revealed on The X Factor how her mother "has been my backbone and my strength and sat by my bed 24/7 in hospital when I broke my back."
Kerry McGregor told The X Factor judges:
"My life changed completely for me at that point because from an early age I had been very involved in singing and ballet and drama.
"In some people's eyes it could be a hindrance but in my eyes it’s not. If anything, it gives me all the more reason to kick my heels in and go on. I am determined and I will achieve ..."
Kerry McGregor played Carol-Ann in the Channel 4 series The Book Group in 2003.
The X Factor judges were impressed with Kerry McGregor's rendition of Something by The Beatles and Maria McKee's Show Me Heaven. Kerry became one of Sharon Osbourne's four finalists in the over-25s category.
However Kerry McGregor was one the earlier finalists to be voted off the X Factor. On October 26, 2006 Kerry and Ashley had to sing for survival and Louis Walsh used his casting vote to remove Kerry, saying:
"I have to make my decision based on talent. Kerry has come as far as she can. Ashley messed up his words and wasn't professional. But he could improve."
Kerry has been a music contestant before, but failed in her attempt to represent Britain in the 1997 Eurovision contest with band Do Re Mi.
Kerry McGregor and Dean Robertson live in Pumpherston, West Lothian with their baby son, Joshua.
