Jason Statham was born on 12 September 1972, in Sydenham in south London. His mother was a singer.

In 1992 Jason Statham finished 12th in the World Diving Championships. Statham was also a model before becoming an actor.

The owner of French Connection, for whom Statham modelled, introduced him to Guy Ritchie, who cast him in his 1998 film ‘Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’.

Jason Statham appeared in the subsequent Ritchie movies: ‘Snatch’ (2000) and ‘Revolver’ (2005).

Jason Statham's first lead role was in ‘The Transporter’ (2002), in which he did all his own stunts.

His leading roles also include Chev Chelios in the R-rated ‘Crank’ (2006) (‘Poison in his veins. Vengeance in his heart’) and Terry in ‘The Bank Job’ (2008), which was written by Ian La Frenais and Dick Clement and co-stars Saffron Burrows.

Statham once said of his films: "You ain't ever gonna get an Academy Award for doing ‘Crank’ and you certainly won't for doing all the other movies I've done."

Jason Statham is a trained kickboxer.

Jason Statham and Kelly Brook walked out with one another for seven years, until Brook left Statham for Billy Zane.

Jason Statham was subsequently linked for a while with Australian pop singer and actor Sophie Monk.

He was later romantically linked with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. In January 2016 they got engaged.

In 2016, he starred in Mechanic: Resurrection, reprising his role in the 2011 thriller about an elite hitman.
