Anastacia Newkirk's Biography

Anastacia was born in Chicago on 17 September 1968.

Although interested in music from an early age, it was only after reaching the finals of the MTV talent show The Cut when she was 30 that she had her breakthrough as a performer.

In 2000, her debut album Not That Kind was released and her single ‘l’m outta love’ became the biggest selling single of the year.

She continued to have several hits including Sick And Tired, One Day In Your Life and Left Outside Alone and has clocked up over 30 million sales.

She has had to overcome a number of health problems along the way including Crohn's disease, breast cancer, and a heart condition.

In August 2016, it was announced that she was to be one of the celebrities on Strictly Come Dancing.

She was partnered by Brendan Cole. In week five of Strictly, Anastacia was partnered by Gorka Marquez as Brendan Cole had a lung infection.

Although Anastacia and Gorka survived, the following week Anastacia and Brendan became the fifth couple to voted off Strictly in 2016.
