Anita Manning's Biography
Anita Manning was born in Glasgow on 1 December 1950.
She studied physical education and specialised in dance at Aberdeen and Edinbugh, and then started teaching.
In the 1970s she bought a bed from an Irish dealer, who ended up giving her a job as a buyer.
She ended up buying and selling furniture in England and Ireland.
However, in 1989, together with her daughter Lala, Anita Manning set up Great Western Auctions. In so doing she became Scotland’s first female auctioneer.
Anita would go on to have a career broadcasting about antiques and her credits include Bargain Hunt, Flog It and Antiques Road Trip.
