Who was Verne Troyer?

Verne Troyer was born on January 1 1969 in Michigan, USA.

His height was 2 foot 8ins and he weighs around 37lbs.

Before acting, he worked in the customer service department of a telephone company.

His early career included being the puppet's double in Pinocchio's Revenge in 1996.

Another early film role was as a double for the nine-month-old lead in Baby's Day Out.

Verne Troyer's major breakthrough was his role as Mini-Me in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and Austin Powers: Goldmember.

Verne Troyer and Mike Myers won the best on-screen duo accolade at the MTV movie awards 2000.

His other film credits included Men In Black, The Grinch, Mighty Joe Young and Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone.

According to David Parkinson in The Guardian:

"At 2' 8", he is the smallest adult actor in Hollywood history. However, he's not the most diminutive performer, as 2' 7" Tamara de Treaux operated the alien doll in E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial (1982)."

Verne Troyer married Playboy model Genevieve Gallen in January 2004. The marriage lasted a month.

It was not Troyer's only relationship of note. In July 2008, a sex tape of him and former girlfriend Ranae Shrider ended up on the internet.

Verne came 4th in 2009's Celebrity Big Brother.

Celebrity Big Brother was not the first time Verne Troyer has been on reality TV. A few years previously he had appeared on The Surreal Life in the USA.

In 2009, Verne Troter starred in Terry Gilliam's film, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

In 2017, he revealed that he was being treated for alcoholism.

Verne Toyer died on 21 April 2018, aged 49. A coroner in Los Angeles ruled that his death was suicide.
