Who is Helio Castroneves?
Helio Castroneves was born on May 10, 1975 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, although he grew up in Ribeirao Preto City.His father owned a stock car team.
Castroneves worked his way up from karting in 1987 to become the first driver to win consecutive Indianapolis 500 events, which he accomplished in 2001 and 2002.
Helio Castroneves has enjoyed huge success in Indy Car racing since joining Penske Racing in 2000.
In 2004, Helio Castroneves went into ownership, becoming a partner in the NasrCastroneves racing team, which competes in Brazil.
Helio Castroneves has won Dancing With The Stars partnering Julianne Hough.
Helio and Julianne beat Melanie Brown and Maksim Chmerkovskiy in the final of Dancing with the Stars with Marie Osmond coming third.
Helio's fiancée is Ali Vasquez and he told Auto Racing Daily that they would decide in December 2007 when they would marry.
On October 2, 2008 Helio Catroneves was indicted on tax evasion charges.
On 17 April 2009, Helio Catroneves was acquitted of six counts of tax evasion.
Weeks later, in May 2009, Helio Castroneves won his third Indianapolis 500.
In 2018, he switched to Penske’s Acura team in the International Motor Sports Association’s WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
