Josie Maran's Biography
Josie Maran was born on 8 May 1978 in Menlo Park, California, USA.
Josie began modelling when she was just 12 and when she was 17 she went on the books of the Elite model agency.
In Josie Maran's interview with Glamour she was asked concerning her ruptured appendix at 12, whether the scar changed her ideas about beauty and replied:
"Walking around on the beach in a bikini, I used to want to cover it up. I could tell people were staring at me, wondering what went wrong, and it always made me self-conscious. Now I think scars are beautiful - like a souvenir - but it took me a long time to get to that point."
Maran's modelling career continued to flourish and as well as being a regular in Glamour and Sports Illustrated's Swimsuit Issue, in which she featured in three consecutive years, in 1997 she became the face of Maybelline.
Josie Maran used to go out with David Blaine, who, as a result, has a J tattoo over his heart.
Josie Maran has acted in The Mallory Effect, Van Helsing, Little Black Book, The Aviator, and The Gravedancers.
For her role as Marishka in Van Helsing, Josie Maran told about.com:
"I did a stunt without any wires. I jumped off a 20' balcony. You'll see it in the movie. I'm just like flying without any wires (laughing). It's pretty cool.
Josie Maran partnered Alec Mazo in the fifth series of Dancing With The Stars.
However, Josie Maran and Alec Mazo were the first pair to be eliminated from the competition.
Around the time of Dancing with the Stars, Josie Maran was also launching her own cosmetics range, Josie Maran Cosmetics.
One of the main ingredients in Josie Maran's line of Cosmetics is Argan Oil.
