Whilst on the verge of starring in Hairspray, Marissa Jaret Winokur discovered she had cervical cancer. She kept it largely private and went on with her stage role, eventually overcoming her cancer with an operation taking out her uterus.

Marissa Jaret Winokur is also well known for starring as Katrina in the sitcom Stacked alongside Pamela Anderson.
