Darren Edey was born in Tidworth in Hampshire on 4 May 1972.

Aged just 8 years old, he started playing for school and then for Whittlesey under 12s.

The 6ft 1in striker subsequently played, mainly as centre forward, for Peterborough United, King's Lynn, Stamford, Spalding, and Wisbech.

Darren Edey joined Bedford Town in September 2020 as assistant manager along with manager Gary Setchell - the duo had also worked together at Northern Premier League Division One South East side Wisbech Town FC.

In 2021/22 with Setchell and Edey at the helm, Bedford Town won the Southern League Division One Championship.

However, on 30 November 2022, Bedford Town FC revealed that the club was parting company with Gary Setchell and Darren Edey.

Darren Edey supports West Ham and his favourite players are Bobby Moore, Trevor Brooking, and Billy Bonds.

Outside of football, Darren is a Risk & Compliance Manager.

We asked Darren a couple of quick questions:

Q) Can you name a couple of career highlights?

A) Signing professionally for Peterborough at the age of 21. Also, winning the League with Bedford in 21/22.

Q) Any interesting trivia about yourself?

A) I was once the Milky Bar kid, and yes the Milky Bars are on me!
