David Atherton's Biography

David Atherton was a 36 year old international health adviser living in London when he competed as a baker on The Great British Bake Off in 2019.

David grew up in Yorkshire.

His passion for baking has been enhanced by his travels. For example, when he was working in Malawi as a health adviser, he learnt to build an oven out of an oil drum.

David studied art and design before switching to nursing.

As well as baking, his cycling activities are a feature of David Atherton's Instagram account.

David Atherton ended up winning The Great British Bake Off in 2019.
