Allison Crowe was born on November 16, 1981 in Nanaimo, B.C. Canada.

Allison Crowe's interest in music started at an early age. Surrounded at home by the sounds of the likes of Nina Simone and Chet Baker, Crowe performed in public at just six years-old.

Whilst still at school, Allison Crowe not only developed her vocal talents but also learnt piano, flute, bass and drums. By 15, Crowe's musical reputation was spreading in her native Canada and she played regularly to audiences in coffee-houses and bars in Vancouver Island. In 1998, Allison Crowe won the VIEX Island Songbird Competition.

In 2002, Allison Crowe completed her first national tour as headliner, and a year later she launched her own label, Rubenesque Records, with the release of the EP 'Lisa's Song + 6 Songs' - a collection of songs recorded live-off-the-floor.

'Secrets', Crowe's debut full-length album, followed in Summer 2004. And hot on its heels came 'Tidings', a collection of songs for the Christmas season.

Tidings has gained particular acclaim and includes Allison Crowe's interpretation of the Leonard Cohen song, Hallelujah. A video version posted online has more than seven million views.

In 2005, Allison Crowe released a double-album, "Live at Wood Hall".

She has continued a steady pace with releases in 2006 (This Little Bird), 2008 (Little Light), and 2010 (Spiral).

In late 2008, MOJO commented on Crowe: "Once famously described by the Vancouver Courier as possessing a style akin to 'Elton John meets Edith Piaf', the Canadian singer-songwriter Allison Crowe is renowned for her ability to blend control and melodrama."

Crowe regularly tours North America and Europe. In 2011, along with concert performances, Crowe's focus included two projects due for release in 2012/13: a ballet production, and a major motion picture.

In 2012, Allison Crowe performed live on-stage with Canada's Royal Winnipeg Ballet for the World Premiere of "The Doorway - Scenes from Leonard Cohen".

In 2013, Allison Crowe appeared in the film Man of Steel directed by Zack Snyder.
