Darren Williams's Biography
He was retained by trainer Karl Burke.
According to (as at 7 December 2004) his statistics from the Racing Post website in 2004 Williams had roughly mirrored his circa 10% wins to rides records for previous years but that the profit to a level £1 stake on all his rides has shot up. The profit extends across 3 and 4 year olds and for a number of trainers including Burke.
Darren Williams was caught up in the police investigation of race-fixing and on 3 July 2006 the police announced that Darren Williams, 27, of Leyburn, North Yorks, had been charged with Conspiracy to Defraud Betfair Customers.
Soon afterwards the Horseracing Regulatory Authority decided not to renew his license until after the outcome of the trial, expected to start in 2007.
In December 2007 together with Kieren Fallon and Fergal Lynch amongst others, Darren Williams was cleared of race-fixing, after the judge directed the jury to find the defendants not guilty of conspiracy to defraud Betfair customers.
