Who is Funmbi Omotayo?

Funmbi Omotayo was born and raised in Hackney, London.

However, when he was 10 years old, he went with his family to Nigeria and stayed there for six years.

Back in the UK, he combined a summer job as a porter at Harrods in the morning with studying drama at the Poor School in the evening.

He was let go from drama school and started doing stand-up comedy. Although nervous at first, he eventually took to it.

He won the Best Newcomer at the Black Entertainment Comedy Awards.

Further accolades followed including, in 2012, winning the Leicester Square New Act of the Year competition as well as the Amused Moose’s Laugh Off Competition.

In 2015, Funmbi Omotayo appeared on The John Bishop Show.

In February 2016, it was announced that Funmbi Omotayo and Susan Calman would be reporters on a new BBC2 show, Too Much TV.
