Anthea Turner was born on 25 May 1960 in Staffordshire.

Her first broadcasting roles were as record librarian and then traffic reporter at Signal Radio in Stoke.

She went on to become one of the most famous presenters of TV programmes.

She hosted popular shows such as Top of the Pops, Blue Peter, GMTV, The National Lottery Live and Wish You Were Here.

1996 saw Anthea Turner at her pinnacle winning the prestigious Royal Variety Club of Great Britain Showbusiness Personality of the Year award and being named BBC Personality of the Year.

In 1998 she separated from her first husband, the former Radio 1 DJ Peter Powell, who had also been her agent.

In 2002 Anthea Turner hosted a 20-part series, called Baby Makers, on This Morning which followed three couples attempting to start a family with IVF treatment.

Anthea Turner told The Times about her own unsuccessful attempts at IVF:

"When I watch Tricia or The Jeremy Kyle Show on television and see these women dragging their kids up, sometimes four or five of them from different fathers, often with little concern for their wellbeing, I can't help but feel that it's unfair. Life isn't fair, we all know that, but there have been times when I've wondered how it's possible, in a world where so many kids need love and care and lack affection, that I could be here bursting with love and yet denied the opportunity to give it to my own child."

Her credits also include fronting Anthea Turner – Perfect Housewife on the BBC.

Both Anthea Turner and her then husband Grant Bovey were selected as celebrity contestants on Hell's Kitchen in 2009.

Anthea was the third to be sacked from Hell's Kitchen and the fourth to leave as Bruce Grobbelaar had left of his own volition.

Anthea Turner and Grant Bovey were embroiled in controversy in 2000 when pictures of their wedding were bought by OK and included one of them holding a chocolate being given away in the magazine.

It was alleged during the 'Flakegate' scandal, that Anthea Turner and Grant Bovey had accepted payment to be shown eating the chocolate bar.

Hell's Kitchen was not Anthea Turner's first exposure to reality TV. She was also a contestant on Celebrity Big Brother.

Before Hell's Kitchen, Anthea Turner said of her dyslexia:

"I am quite methodical, I know a lot of dyslexic cooks because you have to work harder, I am not severely dyslexic, but I know that I have to be slightly more organised than the next person in case something goes wrong, in case I miss something and because of that, it has just made me more organised.

"Marco's dyslexic, so at least he will understand what I have written and I have my own little short hand, but if I spelt it wrong at least he would understand it."

In 2012, she split from Grant Bovey after 12 years of marriage. They divorced in 2015.

In 2013, she was paired with Andrew Buchanan on Dancing on Ice.

They were the fourth pair to be eliminated.

In 2019, Anthea Turner got engaged to Mark Armstrong.
