Sean Wilson's Biography
Former Coronation Street actor, Sean Wilson, who played Martin Platt, was born on 4 April 1965, in Ashton-under-Lyne, Cheshire.
Sean Wilson left Coronation Street after 20 years when he refused to do a storyline in which he was supposed to go to bed with an under-age girl.
According to The Sun, he said: "I didn't want to be castigated as a person and, as a dad, I didn’t want my kids to be picked on because of it."
However, it has been given a slightly different slant elsewhere with Coronation Street producer Tony Wood quoted as saying: "Sean has been a valued member of cast for 20 years, however, after a run of dramatic storylines, we felt there was nowhere left for the character to go at the moment."
In Dancing on Ice, Sean Wilson partnered five times British National Champion, Marika Humphreys. Sean got to the last six but was eliminated after the judges voted 4 to 1 to keep Kelly Holmes and say goodbye to Sean.
