David Dickinson's Biography
David Dickinson was born in 1941 and grew up in Stockport.
David Dickinson married cabaret star Lorne Lesley, and gave up a life in textiles to manage her career.
In the 1970s together with a friend Dickinson opened an antiques shop in Manchester. David Dickinson experienced mixed results from his ventures into antique shops, and David Dickinson's official site describes how he moved into selling at antique fairs and then on to television presenting.
After a chance meeting where he was spotted by a producer for a BBC documentary about antiques dealing in 1996, David Dickinson's career in front of the television camera has moved on apace.
Dickinson's appearances on TV include The Antiques Show, BBC1's The Holiday Programme and Channel Five's The Antique Hunter. He also presented BBC1's Bargain Hunt, which was launched in 2000, and won the National Television Award for The Most Popular Daytime Show in October 2002.
Known as a flamboyant extrovert, David Dickinson has appeared on Strictly Come Dancing and I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
In 2017, ITV commissioned the daytime show David Dickinson's Name Your Price.
