In August 2009, George Hamilton turned 70. He was born in 1939 - some reports say in Memphis and others in Blytheville, Arkansas.
His father Spike Hamilton was a band leader in charge of Spike Hamilton and his Barbary Coast Orchestra and his mother was Ann "Teeny" Stevens Potter Hamilton Hunt Spalding, of whom Hamilton produced a film, My One and Only, for release in 2009.
His parents divorced when George Hamilton was around five.
In the late 1950s George Hamilton went to Hollywood and got parts in the likes of Crime and Punishment and Home from the Hill and he gained a long contract with MGM.
George Hamilton went on to appear in numerous films and TV dramas, notably Dynasty.
In 2006 he appeared on Dancing with the Stars. In 2009, his son Ashley Hamilton followed in his footsteps on the show. Ashley was the son of Hamilton and his ex-wife Alana Stewart. Colonel Tom Parker was the best man at their wedding. Hamilton has another son, George, with actress Kimberly Blackford.

Hamilton has written his autobiography, Don't Mind If I Do, in which The Telegraph reported George Hamilton wrote about his "affairs with Jeanne Moreau, Britt Ekland, Elizabeth Taylor, Alana Stewart, Danielle Steel, Sylvia Kristel, Lyndon Johnson's daughter, Lynda Bird – Johnson was President at the time – and Hamilton's own stepmother."
