Elaine Lordan's Biography
Before making a name for herself in EastEnders as Lynne Hobbs (nee Slater), Elaine Lordan was an aerobics instructor for more than a decade.
Elaine Lordan, whose first appearance on EastEnders was in September 2000, had previously acted in films such as This Year's Love and Face, as well as various TV roles in programmes like Minder and Gimme, Gimme, Gimme.
Elaine Lordan explained in an interview with the BBC that:
"I sometimes think I was born to be an actress, as I have never wanted to do anything else. As a child I used to run around with a tea towel on my head driving my family mad pretending to be in a play! I used to go to Anna Scher (theatre school) after school for lessons, so I guess it all started from there."
In 2003, Elaine Lordan admitted driving after drinking five vodkas and said she lied to police to cover up an affair with a married man, who was EastEnders's resource manager Peter Manuel. The following year Elaine left the soap.
Elaine got together with Peter Manuel and in December 2004 they had a son James Garrett Manuel. James had a congenital diaphragmatic hernia which meant regular hospital attention - he passed away in December 2005, just days after Elaine and Peter Manuel got married.
Elaine had to pull out of I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here early. At the very start she had a tough time with a tightrope walk and then fainted twice.
ITV understandably did not want to risk Elaine's further participation and she reluctantly agreed to pull out of I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.
In January 2007, Elaine Lordan was the first person to be voted off Soapstar Superstar.
Elaine Lordan has released an autobiography, Whatever It Takes.
