Crissy Rock was born on 23 September 1958 in Liverpool. Her father was a coal man.

She is most famous for her role as Janey York in the ITV1 comedy Benidorm.

She had a difficult childhood. At 8 years-old, Crissy Rock was abused by her grandfather. At 15, she was raped by a stranger and had a baby. She got married to her boyfriend but he became abusive.

She became a stand-up comedian before she was cast as Maggie Conlan in Ken Loach's film Ladybird, Ladybird for which she won Best Actress at the Berlin Film Festival.

Crissy Rock's second husband Tom turned to alcohol and, in 2000, she was declared bankrupt.

She left him and ended up working in Spain, where she was spotted by Benidorm writer Derren Litten, who cast her in the series.

In 2011, she wrote her autobiography, This Heart Within Me Burns: From Bedlam to Benidorm.

In November 2011, she became one of the celebrities to be on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

In 2020, she became one of the celebrities on Celebrity Masterchef.
