Krishnan Guru-Murthy was born in Liverpool and grew up in Lancashire.

Krishnan is a long-running host of Channel Four News, having joined in 1998. He is also the presenter of Channel Four's Unreported World.

In his gap year between school and university,, he was a presenter on BBC Two’s Open to Question.

Whilst studying Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Hertford College, Oxford, he also managed to work part-time presenting East and Network East.

After University he worked at the BBC on programmes such as Newsround (which he presented from 1991 to 1994) and Newsnight.

His sister Geeta has presented on BBC news programmes and his brother Ravi was made CEO of Nesta.

In 2019 Krishnan met his wife-to-be Lisa wife in Hakkasan on Hanway Place, in central London. They have two children.

In 2023, he was paired with Lauren Oakley on Strictly Come Dancing. They came eighth, just missing out on going to Blackpool.
