Michael Landes has had several roles in American television programmes, as well as appearances in theatre and television in the UK before landing the lead role of American comedy writer Gil Raymond in the first series of David Renwick's Love Soup.

Renwick acknowledges that casting Michael Landes in the role was an out-of-the-box decision as Landes himself told The Radio Times "I normally play these real savvy, smooth-talking, L.A executives and lawyers". Gil, on the hand, is insecure, anxious and awkward and Renwick comments:

"Taking on the autobiographical role of a neurotic defeatist was, I sensed, something of a stretch for him, but as the series progressed Gil Raymond and Alice Chenery developed organically and wonderfully into characters in their own right."

Previous roles for Michael Landes included Kirk McCraig in The Wonder Years and Jimmy Olsen in Lois and Clark: The New Adventures Of Superman.

Landes also starred in The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air (with Will Smith) and had an appearance as the young Michael in the cult classic 'thirtysomething'. Landes also played Scott in the comedy "Too Something".

Michael Landes got cast in London West End's version of When Harry Met Sally after the play's director had seen him act in a failed pilot in L.A.

The show was not that well reviewed by The Daily Telegraph, which commented:

"The show still strikes me as being almost entirely pointless when you can buy the original movie for six quid on video, but the new American stars, Molly Ringwald and Michael Landes, undoubtedly give warm, funny and touching performances in the title roles. Whether they are good enough to justify forking out £42.50 for a top-price ticket, however, is another matter entirely."

Whilst in the UK, Michael Landes also acted in the TV drama "Marple: 4.50 From Paddington".

Michael Landes met his wife, actress Wendy Benson, on an independent movie in Boston.

Back in 1998, Landes produced and acted in the romantic comedy "Getting Personal".

In 2016 he appeared in the lead role in Hooten & the Lady.
