Who is Emma Watson?

Emma Watson was born on 15 April 1990 in Paris, however her family moved back to England when Emily was 5. Her parents, Jacqueline and Chris were both lawyers, and are divorced. Emma Watson lived with her mother in Oxford, but she would spend weekends in her father house in London.

She got her major acting breakthrough playing Hermione Granger in the extraordinarily successful Harry Potter films. Her first film role was in Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, for which she was 9 at the audition and just 10 when filming started.

Emma Watson continued to play Hermione alongside Daniel Radcliffe's Harry in all the Harry Potter films based around JK Rowling's books.

In 2007, Emma Watson was signed up by the model agency, Storm. In the same year, she became the youngest celebrity to appear on the cover of Tatler.

In Christmas 2007, Emma Watson played orphan Pauline Fossil in BBC One's adaptation of Ballet Shoes.

In 2008, it was reported that Emma Watson would star in the Napoleonic period drama Napoleon and Betsy, taking over from Scarlett Johansson, who is a producer of the film.

In 2007, The Telegraph reported that Emma Watson was applying to Cambridge to read English and Philosophy.

In June 2008, the Mail reported that Emma Watson was to be the new face of the Chanel fragrance Coco Mademoiselle.

In August 2008, the Daily Mail reported that Emma Watson gained straight As at A Level.

In June 2009, the Daily Mail carried an article about Emma Watson's relationship with 25-year-old financier Jay Barrymore and her photoshoot for the August issue of Teen Vogue.

In February 2010, an article in Vanity Fair named Emma Watson Hollywood's highest-paid female star.

In September 2009, Emma Watson enrolled at Brown University, in Providence, Rhode Island. In April 2011, Emma Watson wrote on her official website that she did not know what she was going to do in September 2011, but "I am off to Pittsburgh soon to start The Perks of being a Wallflower."

In 2012, Emily Watson won a Bafta for best leading actress for her role in Appropriate Adult.

In the 2016 Sunday Times Rich List they estimated that Emma Watson's net wealth was £35 million.

On 12 January 2016, the BBC announced that Emily Watson had been cast as Yvonne Carmichael in a four part adaptation of Louise Doughty’s thriller, Apple Tree Yard.

In 2017, she posed in a see-through top for a cover of Vanity Fair magazine.

According to Forbes she was the fourth highest grossing actor in 2017, thanks to the success of Beauty and the Beast.

In November 2019 it was reported how Emma Watson was happy being single.

Also in 2019, she was cast as Meg in Little Women. The character's sister Jo was played by Saoirse Ronan.
