Gareth Batty's Biography
Right-handed off-break bowler, Gareth Batty was born on 13 October 1977 in Bradford.
Batty's test debut was against Bangladesh in Dhaka 2003. He took the wicket of Alok Kapali with his third ball. However, in the following couple of years, Batty did not have many opportunities to play test match cricket as spinner Ashley Giles was usually preferred by the selectors.
Additionally 2005 was not a great year for Batty. His season with Worcestershire yielded only 33 first-class wickets at 37.57 - and failed to be selected for England's tour of Pakistan.
Gareth Batty supports the Leeds Rhinos, likes Maroon 5, and one of his nicknames is 'Boris'.
Batty made his debut with Yorkshire in 1997 but played just one season there before joining Surrey, for whom he played just three games, before joining Worcestershire.
