Pat Simmons's Biography
Pat Simmons announced the time on Britain's telephone service from 1963 until 1985. The first speaking clock was Jane Cain who started in 1936. Ms Simmons was replaced by Brian Cobby.
Pat Simmons died on 29 October, 2005 in the Royal London Hospital at the age of 85.
Pat had been a supervisor in a London telephone exchange. She won a competition and as well as becoming 'Tim' she also pocketed £500.
